![]() ![]() ![]() Hell make me do a 5 race championship that takes me 20-30 minutes to beat and give me a Ferrari that I can sell for a million credits, then it at least feels like I’ve earned something. I’m pretty sure Gran Turismo had late game championships that could be farmed for expensive prize cars. Maybe make wheelspins a postgame thing? Or fill out wheelspins with bigger prizes and give them out a little less frequently? I don’t mind making it easier to farm cash by doing late game races for big payouts. No one is asking to have the game make you play 10 hours to afford each car purchase, just something that requires a little more effort than “Congratulations, you finished 9th in a couple of races and drove across a field, here’s a Lamborghini that doesn’t give you access to anything new because you can just about drive any car in any race anyway.” And with regard to a game becoming a second job, as is, the game has weekly limited time cars as well as extremely expensive cars that cost 5 or 10 or 20 million credits, and will actually require hours of grinding to afford. The only other game that I liked for the progression and role-playing elements were the Need for Speed Underground games. I don't understand why we haven't seen that since.įor that reason alone GT4 stands the test of time and is in my opinion the greatest racing game ever made. What's frustrating is that GT4 included an arcade style version in the game, if you don't want to spend ages grinding for cars, doing endurance races, etc. It is so, so disappointing to me that with all the highly realistic driving games we have, and I play many of them, that it seems as though developers have no interest in making a truly progression-based, rags to riches simulation racing game. The concept of starting off with a cheap, shitty car and actually being able to build your funds, customize it extensively, and even turn a trashy car into a well-tuned sleeper. I completely and totally agree though, I started with Gran Turismo 2 and was hooked from the start as a kid. ![]()
